ROAD SAFETY TIPS FOR Senior citizens
Children and the aged are among the the majority of prone groups among road users, with seniors counting for almost half of all pedestrian deaths. Children and senior citizens road safety and accidents is often a main social concern. Keep in mind though that safety factors are not an accident – it’s a choice everyone of us could make. Comply with traffic policies and remember these kinds of road safety tips for children as well as the elderly:
Procedures TO ENHANCE ROAD Protection FOR CHILDREN:
Always Do’s:
• Always cross the road at given pedestrian crossings, overhead bridges, underpasses or zebra crossings.
• Always be aware for inattentive motorists even at signalized crossings.
• Always use footpaths when possible.
• Always hold on to handrails on the bus to keep away from getting tossed off balance during sudden swerves or brakes.
• Always wait for the bus to stop fully before getting on or alighting.
• Always be aware for almost any oncoming bicyclists or pedestrians when alighting out of the bus.
Never Do’s:
• Never sprint over driveways.
• Never cross before a stationary automobile or between stationary vehicles.
• Never cross once the “red man” lights up or as soon as the “green man” is flashing to have pedestrian road safety and accidents can be avoided.
• Never play or stand in the bus bay.
• Never stick out any part of your body when you’re inside of a bus or even in a car.
• Never play in a going vehicle.
Suggestions for PARENTS:
• Be patient while driving a vehicle your child to school, these are peak traffic hours.
• Always park your vehicle at specific parking locations.
• Be aware and assume any crossings by school children.
• Teach your children concerning road safety rules. Set a good example.
• Help your son or daughter to cross the road safely.
Street Guides and TIPS FOR Older people
Injuries involving the elderly usually occur due to their reduced sensory and motor abilities. However this doesn’t show that elderly people won’t be able to take advantage of the use of our driveways. Help the aged to improve their safety by getting them to observe all these street safety ideas:
• RAISING YOUR HAND When CROSSING a street is a great approach to inform car owners.
• BE ALERT FOR INATTENTIVE DRIVERS, even when you are walking across assigned pedestrian crossing places.
• Always make sure to WALK ON FOOTPATHS As well as WALKWAYS.
• USE PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS like overhead bridges, underpasses, zebra crossings, and also signalized traffic signals.
• BE Noticed, BE SAFE. Use light shaded clothing or perhaps bring some reflective material when you’re walking in the evening.
• GET ASSISTANCE from a friend or relative if you’re heading out. Don’t remain too much out there when waiting for a bus or taxi.
• NEVER CROSS AT Highway BENDS, where you can’t notice oncoming cars or trucks and where they can’t see you. Cross through a location in which you have a whole view of each side of the street.
• DON’T CROSS BETWEEN STATIONARY Cars or trucks as these could possibly move ahead and run you over.
